Welcome to
The Earl of Lindsey’s is the first companie of the Sealed Knot’s premier regiment, the King’s Lifeguard of Foote. We are one of the oldest surviving units within the Society having been raised at the inception of the Sealed Knot. Originally London-based, we now have members in Brighton, Canterbury, Cardiff, Devises, Oxford, Southampton and South Yorkshire, and are closely involved with the other ‘Guard companies based in and around Nantwich, Worcester, Oxford, Nottingham, and Humberside. We have members represented in all arms of the army which are, in alphabetical order, Artillery, Baggage, Drums, Musket and Pike. New members are encouraged to try out any or all of the above – training will be given. At your first muster you will usually be required to provide appropriate footwear and socks but the regiment can often loan you most of the other equipment for your chosen role. There are also traders on the campsite at larger events, who sell all manner of clothing and military accoutrements. Additionally, there are re-enactors markets, held twice a year in the Midlands, at which further items may be purchased at reasonable cost. You will be expected to obtain your own uniforms, weapons and proper footwear as soon as you have decided that you want to stay within the companie and/or the society. Lindsey’s is a close-knit companie who like to have fun. During the muster season, in addition to participating in the time-tabled events, we have post-battle barbecues and parties a favourite being, ironically, the fancy dress party. Out of season we have companie get-togethers whenever possible and we also have our own newsletter ‘Lindsey’s Literal’. COME AND JOIN US; you will be made most welcome.
